Hugh Jackman Rescue: The Actor Saves Son From Riptide

It’s a bird, it’s a plane, no, it’s Wolverine to the rescue!

Hugh Jackman was hoping to enjoy a lovely family day at the beach, Bondi Beach in Australia to be exact, until nature had other plans in mind.

The video above, captured by Australia’s Nine News, shows the actor helping a man and a young girl (who might have been his daughter) to safety and then alerting other swimmers to the dangerous waters as the waves became a riptide.

Pictures on Twitter showed Jackman going back in to save his 15 year-old son, Oscar.

According to the North Bondi Lifesaving Club, the beach had to be closed for a while due to the conditions and thanked Jackman for his efforts in the same post.

WELL DONE to Patrol 13 captained by Rosie Taliano & Tom Bunting this afternoon who completed 43 rescues in total with only a limited 12 patrolling members rostered on. There were also 3 rescues in the morning completed by Patrol 10. A big THANK YOU to Waverley Duty Officers, @brontesurfclub, @bondisblsc, @bondilifeguards and @surfrescue30 for your extra assistance. The beach had to be closed due to dangerous conditions, multiple rescues happening all at once and limited resources. @thehughjackman was also spotted assisting with rescues! We’ve all heard stories of parents using superhero strength to save their children. This latent power has often been attributed to adrenaline but, according to an article in Psychology Today, it might also have to do with a combination of changes including pain being deadened, an increase of focus and time slowing down to name a few.

That goes to show that the average parent doesn’t have to be Wolverine to tap into his or her superhero powers.
