10. 1960 Chrysler 300 F

The 1960 Chrysler 300F was not only sophisticated but it was also performance savvy for its time in that year. the highest engine option gained a radical ram induction system in which each four-barrel carb fed the opposite cylinder bank via 30-inch “outrigger” tubes. The length of the runners was calculated to produce a super-charging effect in the heart of the rpm range.

9. 1961 Dodge Experimental Ramchargers Super Stock

It was told that Super Stock racing became experimental in those days and Tom Hoover and Dan Mancini were behind some of these cars building the engine in a garage. In particular they were using 413/426 max wedge motors bored them 0.060 over, All the rotating components were stock, but it did have the hardened truck crankshaft and tri-metal bearings. The pistons were flat top, and it was still made possible to get 13.5:1 compression ratio that required considerable head milling. Hoover left the oil ring expanders out to “reduce friction.” and by knocking 200 pounds off the car propelled them into the 10 second segment of the 1/4 mile. which is still not possible for most of todays production performance cars like Ferrari to meet.

8. 1962 Dodge Dart 413

The 413-cid V-8 had been around since 1959, but in ’61 the monster wedge found its way out of big Chryslers and into smaller Dodges and Plymouths. There it made as much as 375 bhp, but with 400-bhp-plus Chevrolets, Pontiacs, and Fords had the edge, so Mopar needed more and got just that. All 413s had wedge-shaped combustion chambers, but the new version unleashed in the spring of ’62 and it was bred for maximum performance. That earned it the unofficial, but long lasting, Max Wedge title.

7. 1963 Plymouth Belvedere 426 Wedge

in 1963 Mopar’s most-popular street performer was the 330-bhp 383-cid V-8 while The 426 Wedge was an all out racing machine . According to Hot Rod they fuelled a 13.5:1-compression version with 102-octane race gas and took it to the Pomona drag strip. Running a TorqueFlite 727 with a 4.56:1 gear in the rear end, the magazine tested the pretty much stock Belvedere in 12.69-seconds ET at 112 mph. Superstock was calling the name for this production model and they used these cars as 1/4 mile drag racing machines for the course of the superstock wars.

6. 1964 Dodge Polara Hemi 330 Factory Lightweight

Factory Hemi lightweight superstock ’64 Dodge Polara was an Authentic factory racecar that was also raced by Barnes Core Drilling as “Snorkasaurus 4” out of Bakersfield, CA. These cars where technologically advanced in engineering with front fenders assembled out of aluminum material to lighten the car prohibiting forever rust. other components were developed out of aluminum as well. 5. 1965 Dodge Coronet W051 Super Stock

Late in 1964, production began on the ’65 Race Hemi package cars with sale codes of W01 for Dodge and R01 for Plymouth. The Plymouth factory race car version was a manufactured 1965 Plymouth Factory Altered Wheelbase model which was engineered to move the wheels forward to redistribute weight rearward, which was a goal of radical factory modifications performed by the engineers to essentially factory stock 1965 Plymouth Belvederes. There are historical sources that show the 051 code is considered correct as a code by Chrysler’s documents. the ’65 factory race cars were completely finished, purpose-built, full-size automobiles built expressly for winning at the drag strip. The previously used plastic windows in previous race manufactured cars where assembled with special chemically-tempered lightweight Corning glass that was used in 1965.

The Plymouth Satellite 426 Hemi is a rear wheel drive saloon (sedan) motor car with a front mounted engine, sold by Plymouth. The Plymouth Satellite is one of the BR Series range of cars from Plymouth. The Plymouth Satellite Hemi 426’s engine is a naturally aspirated petrol, 7 litre, overhead valve 90 degree V 8 cylinder with 2 valves per cylinder. 3. 1967 Dodge Coronet 426 Race Hemi Super Stock

425 bhp, 426 cu. in. OHV V-8 Race Hemi engine, three-speed TorqueFlite 727 automatic transmission, torsion bar independent front suspension, live rear axle with semi-elliptical leaf springs, and four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes. The 1967 Dodge Coronet 426 Race Hemi Super Stock was a brute force race car in the 1/4 mile capable of 10 second flat times. 2. 1968 Plymouth Hemi Barracuda B029

Chrysler thought let’s make approximately fifty fastback Barracudas equipped with the 426 cu in (7.0 L) Hemi for Super Stock drag racing and they did. In 1968 Super Stock was at its peak with performance engineering and Chrysler was at the top place for being the fastest in 1/4 mile racing they dominated. So like they did with here later model race vehicles they placed the same 426 Race Hemi in the engine bay compartment and added more science to the recipe via their aerospace technology. They were a really smart company and ahead of most by miles. With super light weight technology the car was able to propel the 1/4 mile in 10.60 seconds or less. The 1969 Dodge Dart L023 is even a rarer treat that was producing a 9 second 1/4 mile time and is valued today by collectors at USD $300,000.00.

1. 1969 1/2 Plymouth Roadrunner Super Stock

You could go to the dealer in 1969 and order these street ready Plymouth Roadrunner 440-6 pack A12 Super Stock looking vehicles with not all the science that would have came with a super stock car for the race track but close enough. The 426 Hemi or race Hemi was not an option for the special A12 either but the 440-6 pack was the only option suited by the engineers. The compression was a high 10.5:1 and the horsepower for the RB 440 was rated at 390 hp which was under rated and the car weighed in at 3,435 which was a couple hundred pounds lighter then the non A12 Roadrunner models. The car was equipped with a Dana 60 rear end with 4.10 gears and propelled the Roadrunner from 0 – 60 in under 6.5 seconds.
