David Cheriton is a technology entrepreneur, serial entrepreneur and an investor with an estimated net worth of $11 billion up $8.05 billion since 2016. He wrote his first cheque for $100,000 to Google co-founders Sergey Brin and Larry Page in an investment deal for a percentage of their company. After Google being a startup company it turned into a multinational conglomerate holding company when it was once upon a time ago an internet mammoth. The holding company Alphabet today has Google under its subsidiaries as a multinational internet company and driving core of its business. The company’s market value today is worth $540 billion giving cheriton thousands of shares in ownership of the company. But that’s not the only company Cheriton had invested in. His investments also consisted of Aster Data Systems which was acquired by Teradata in 2011 for $263M. Cheriton invested in early startup company Tintri, a storage virtualization company founded by his student Kieran Harty. Cheriton was also an early investor in in-video advertising company Zunavision, and he founded OptumSoft. In 2001 Cheriton and Bechtolsheim founded another startup company, Palo Alto based Kealia. Kealia designed a high-capacity streaming video server; Galaxy, a range of servers based on AMD’s Opteron microprocessor; and Thumper, an enterprise-grade network attached storage system. Kealia was bought by Sun Microsystems in 2004, with Thumper becoming the Sun Fire X4500.
