About Dick Costolo

Dick Costolo is an internet entrepreneur and businessman with an estimated net worth of $300 million. Costolo was the COO of twitter prior to becoming CEO in 2010. In 2015 Costolo stepped down as CEO and Jack Dorsey in replacement of Costolo was questionable to shareholders when they found out about Dorsey running two companies at the same time. Twitter’s board was questioning the fact that Dorsey wouldn’t maximize his time at twitter since he was running another company but Investor Chris Sacca believed that Dorsey was the man to run the company since he knew what Twitter’s upcoming plans would entail for the future of Twitter since the board was all over the place. Costolo unlike many entrepreneurs graduated in 1985 with a B.S. degree in computer and communication sciences from the university of Michigan. Costolo then was appointed to the National Security Telecommunications Advisory Committee. In 2015, inside of Twitter was memo written by Costolo that was leaked, in which he said he was ‘frankly ashamed’ at how poorly Twitter handled trolling and abuse, saying ‘We suck at dealing with abuse and trolls on the platform and we’ve sucked at it for years’, and admitted Twitter had lost users as a result of that. In January 2016, Costolo announced that he will launch a fitness startup along with Bryan Oki, CEO of Fitify. The two co-founders are “building a software platform that reimagines the path to personal fitness.”
