Imaan, Aya, Lineisy Cover Teen Vogue's August 2015 Issue

Christy. Naomi. Linda. They’re the “three queens;” the “Trinity” of supermodels.

But now Teen Vogue introduces us to a trio of new fresh faces: Imaan, Aya and Lineisy. They’re all black models with high profile resumes which include campaigns and catwalk gigs for fashion brands like Prada, Givenchy and Celine. The three also share the spotlight for the issue’s August 2015 cover.

Shot by Daniel Jackson, Imaan Hammam, Aya Jones and Lineisy Montero are all styled in “next-level” denim looks with pearl earrings, and nab individual portraits too. Inside the magazine, the three work their summer style with windblown white blouses and billowy sleeves, while praising the value of their friendship in the competitive modelling world.

“It’s nice to know you can come from nothing and make it in this business,” said Hammam at the photoshoot.

“I always thought models would be jealous and focused on trying to be more beautiful than the next one. But what I’ve seen more of is girls becoming friends, giving each other tips. One time I forgot my heels, and a girl said, ‘You can take mine; what size are you?’ That was so sweet and so important.”

But Jones also opens up about her own squad goals, and “fake” friendships, saying, “I don’t like when I see really arrogant or pretentious models. I’m friendly. I say hello to everybody.”

Montero has a similar response to criticism and cattiness, citing her grandmother’s advice in the Teen Vogue video.

“I am all I got, so if I feel good about that, whatever other people say, doesn’t matter,” said Montero.

“I like being me.”

With a refreshing attitude about their careers and peers, there’s little doubt these 18, 19 and 20-year-old fashion stars are fun-loving, grounded and on the rise.
