Hennessey Performance Puts Drag Strip Up for Sale for $2.7 Million

Have you ever wanted to own your very own private drag strip? Well, we’ve got great news, as Hennessey Performance has decided now is the best time to sell their ownership of the Lonestar Motorsports park drag strip next to their performance development facility in Sealy, Tex. The price? A cool $2.7 million.

From the get-go, Hennessey wants it to be known this has nothing to do with the company’s performance shop. The Hennessey development center and workshop adjacent to the race track are not offered for sale, and are completely independent from Lonestar Motorsports park.

“This is purely a smart real-estate move,” John Hennessey, founder and head-honcho at Hennessey Performance, said. “If it sells for what we ask, great. If no one buys it, we might end up just keeping it.”

The 55-acre facility features an IHRA-sanctioned quarter-mile dragstrip, with enclosed and air-conditioned concession stands, spectator grand stands with seating for 800, staging lanes, a control tower, lights, timing equipment, among other things. An additional 70 acres are available for “additional cost,” and the ad claims the property could be expanded into a road course.

Hennessey currently uses this track to test its vehicles, and will include a stipulation for the sale that allows the tuner company to continue to use the facility for testing. According to Hennessey, it is looking to expand annual vehicle production from 400 units to more than 1,000, and this potential sale will likely go a long way toward helping to achieving this goal.
