Prince George Mimics Prince William's Royal Style At Princess Charlotte's Christening

Like father, like son!

Once again, Prince George stole the show at an event for his sister. At Princess Charlotte’s christening on Sunday, the almost-three-year-old boy’s boisterous personality and fresh summer style.

Taking a page out of his father Prince William’s fashion playbook, the two-year-old royal wore red shorts and a white-and-red Rachel Riley collared shirt for the occasion. Back in 1984, the Duke of Cambridge wore a nearly identical outfit to meet baby Prince Harry at the hospital.

Royal watchers and news outlets were quick to point out this sartorial symmetry, with the two looks in question resembling each other in an intentional nod to the family’s strong sense of tradition.

According to Hello! Canada, Prince George’s Rachel Riley smocked set retails at £85, and features white button accents, and red embroidery on the collar, sleeves and chest.

But this isn’t the first time the pair have dressed alike. Time magazine reports the blue and cream romper Prince George wore at the annual Trooping the Colour bash at Buckingham Palace in June was the same garb his father wore at age two, with Prince Charles, in 1984.

Much like his mother the Duchess of Cambridge (née Kate Middleton), Prince George’s fashion picks often result in blockbuster clothing sales, with shoppers aiming to copy his signature looks. The New York Times has dubbed this “the Prince George effect.” The newspaper notes it has surfaced as recently as a few weeks ago, when Amazon.co.uk found a “1,500 per cent” increase in the sales of Crocband clogs after he was photographed wearing them just days earlier at a playdate with his mom.
