Ryron Gracie vs. Josh Barnett new main event for Metamoris 6 with ‘Cyborg’ Abreu hurt

Here’s one secret they couldn’t keep.

Metamoris 6 will feature a new, open-weight main event after a late injury felled grappling wizard Roberto Abreu, who was expected to tangle with Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) heavyweight Josh Barnett. “Cyborg” separated his rib in training and will be replaced by Ryron Gracie.

Abreu apologized to fans on YouTube:

Unfortunately due to a rib injury, I won’t be able to fight this weekend at Metamoris. It has been a tough decision to make. I was fully committed to my training and very motivated with the chance of defending the flag of BJJ and taking the title from Josh Barnett, but my trainers and doctors advise me not to fight since I wouldn’t be able to perform, risking my health and jeopardizing my career. In addition to misrepresenting my art and not giving fans the fight they deserve. I’ll have to bow out for this time, recover myself 100 percent and wait for my next opportunity to fight Metamoris, hopefully against Josh, and focus on my super fight on ADCC. Thanks to all of my fans/sponsors/friends/ family for all the love and support always!

He just spared himself a fan lawsuit.

Metamoris 6, which takes place this Saturday night (May 9, 2015) in Los Angeles, Calif., still has a couple of intriguing fights, including Chael Sonnen vs. Renato Sobral and Joe Lauzon vs. Dillon Danis. Unfortunately, the only way to see them is by way of pay-per-view (PPV), as the event is closed to the public and media.

Is normal.
